About Yagé (Ayahuasca)

Yagé, also known as ayahuasca, is a sacred plant medicine from the Amazon used for centuries by indigenous tribes for spiritual and healing purposes. It's made from the combination of the Ayahuasca vine and the leaves of a second plant, commonly known as Chacruna.
Ingesting ayahuasca induces profound states of consciousness, which may include intense visions and emotional experiences, allowing for deep healing and spiritual insights. The process is often accompanied by nausea and purging, which are a sign of the cleansing one may go through.
It is very important to point out that by working with ayahuasca you will be sitting with one of the most powerful and respected Master Plants in the world. This work is intended for profound, multifaceted healing and is not for recreation, curiosity or amusement. Ayahuasca is not a "cure all" remedy, yet it can provide deep healing, profound insights and transformative teachings. It is important that you feel the call in your heart to work with this medicine for genuine healing, expansion and growth in your life.
Biochemistry of Ayahuasca
Ayahuasca's psychoactive effects stem from the synergistic interaction of two primary compounds: Dimethyltryptamine (DMT) and a specific type of alkaloids. DMT, found in the Chakruna plant (Psychotria Viridis), is a potent psychedelic that binds to serotonin receptors in the brain, inducing profound alterations in consciousness.
β-carboline alkaloids, primarily harmine, harmaline, and tetrahydroharmine, are found in the Ayahuasca vine (Banisteriopsis Caapi). These compounds act as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), preventing the breakdown of DMT in the body. This allows DMT to reach the brain in sufficient concentrations to produce its psychedelic effects, extending their duration and intensity. Additionally, β-carbolines may have independent effects on mood, cognition, and neurotransmitter systems, contributing to ayahuasca's complex pharmacological profile.
Healing with Ayahuasca
Known for its purifying abilities, ayahuasca works on the mind, body, and spirit, removing physical toxins and emotional blockages. This powerful medicine promotes self-discovery and personal transformation. However, it is not a "cure all" remedy and it's not for everyone: those who seek it must feel a deep calling in their hearts for genuine healing, expansion and growth in their lives.
Approaching this Sacred Medicine with dedication, courage, and respect, will help you remove obstacles and allow you to align with your fullest potential. Also, the integration of its lessons into daily life is crucial for long-term healing benefits.
Ayahuasca Dieta
To maximize the healing potential of ayahuasca as well as to avoid negative consequences, participants are encouraged to follow a special diet prior to and during the retreat. Working with ayahuasca can bring about profound transformation, and the dieta is an integral part of this process.
While different shamanic lineages' recommendations vary, it is advised that you start eliminating certain foods, medications, and behaviors 2-4 weeks before your ayahuasca ceremony or retreat. The following guidelines are thought for your ultimate well-being, and so that you can get the most out of your experience with the medicine.
The dieta – Eliminate the following two to four weeks before and after:
Pork
Red meat
Alcohol
Cannabis
Spicy foods
Refined sugars
Junk foods and processed foods
Salt (healthy salt like pink Himalayan salt is fine to use in small amounts)
Oils (virgin olive oil, coconut oil, hemp oil and avocado are ok to keep in the diet)
Animal fats (lard, etc.)
Carbonated drinks (including diet sodas, energy drinks, non-alcoholic beer)
Dairy products
Fermented foods
Coffee and other stimulants
Sexual activities of any kind, including masturbation
All street drugs (cocaine, MDMA, amphetamines, etc need to be fully eliminated at least 4 weeks before and after.)
Many pharmaceutical medications conflict with Ayahuasca
Post-Ceremony Integration
Integration is a crucial process after an ayahuasca ceremony, because it allows you to fully assimilate the insights and experiences gained during your experience. It is often said the "real" work continues after the ceremonies, where one must apply the teachings and tools they have learned into their lives.
Our integration circles are meant to help you process emotions and ground the transformative potential of ayahuasca in your daily reality, ensuring a lasting impact and a deeper understanding of yourself and your path.
Also, we will carry on a follow-up process through a Telegram group, so as to help each other maintain focus on the insights gained and the positive changes we want to bring to our lives.
In this regard, it is important to point out that one of our aims is to create community, to remain engaged and, why not, to involve ourselves in more co-creative projects that have a lasting impact on society.
